The Cornell Graduate School hosts orientation events which introduce resources that help graduate and professional students transition to campus and the community. Join many campus representatives and continuing students for a day of activities.

Graduate Student Registration

This registration for attendance at Cornell (not for courses) is mandatory. It is also an opportunity to pick up your CornellCard, make sure all paperwork is complete, meet Graduate School staff, and familiarize yourself with important campus resources. Free regional festival featuring bountiful produce, apples, cider, and baked apple goods. Craft fair, complete with performers, musicians, puppeteers, singers, storytellers, dancers, and bands.

Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale
Oct. 11 to 13, 18 to 20, and 25 to 28. Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily (but from 8 a.m. on the first day and noon on the last day). 509 Esty St.
One of the largest book sales in the country with more than 300,000 selections. A famous Ithaca attraction, not to be missed by book lovers! All proceeds go to support the Tompkins County Public Library.

Cornell Cinema Orientation Events
Cornell Cinema, considered one of the best campus film-exhibition programs in the country, offers a wide variety of films during Orientation Week. During this week only, films are free Monday through Thursday for new graduate students with Cornell ID. Regular graduate student prices are $4 per show or $35 for a 10-admission discount card. Tickets and admission cards can be purchased at the theatres in the evenings and at the Willard Straight Hall Ticket Desk during the day. Graduate students pay just $2 for a selected screening the second Friday of each month. For information, contact 255-3522 or log onto cinema.cornell.edu.

Grad Hike

Big Red Barn Graduate Center Activities
The BRB is the campus center for graduate students. This casual gathering spot offers regular social programming, a variety of periodicals, dining facilities, computer kiosks, wireless Internet access, and meeting space. A favorite gathering place for grads, the BRB is a wonderful place to relax, join a friend, or make new ones. The Big Red Barn opens for the academic year on Thursday, Aug. 28. Is Your Voice Being Heard? Get involved!
The Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GPSA) represents the interests of all graduate and professional students. Each field elects one or two representatives to the Council of Representatives (CoR) in the fall. In the spring, the CoR elects the 19-member assembly, which acts as the voting body. The assembly system relies upon graduate and professional student involvement.

GPSA Meetings for the 2007–08 academic year: Sept. 22, Oct. 20, Nov. 17, Jan. 26, Feb. 23, March 23, and April 20. All assembly meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. in the greenhouse of the Big Red Barn.

CoR Meetings for the 2007–08 academic year: Sept. 8, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, Dec. 8, Feb. 9, March 9, and April 6. All CoR meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Room of Willard Straight Hall.

Mann Library Tour
